Is there anything this shader can't do? Well yes, it runs about as well as a car would if you put shelled pistachios in the tank instead of petrol. It also has some great reflections compared to the other screen-space reflections in shaders out there. A real highlight though is the PBR as it's genuinely better than any other PBR I've tested and it does everything just the way that I feel like it should be done. In terms of SSPT, it's not as good as global path tracing but still it functions well enough and is fun to mess around with even if the performance decrease isn't worth having it on regularly unless you have a beast of a computer. The lighting and shadows just feel right and the lack of colored shadows is a bit odd but still, the shadows work fine.

The clouds are better than anything we've seen so far and look actually good. It has pretty alright water that serves its purpose despite how plain it is.

The reason why is because this Minecraft shader has most of the visual features that you'd want and executes them all fairly well. The first one is Kappa by RRe36 and while there is no "best Minecraft shader," I feel like this is the shader that gets closest to that status for me. In terms of my personal suggestions I have two, and they're both from the same person lol. While it is great, I'm not sure how well it would do in casual gameplay and I feel like it should mainly just be used for specific styles of builds, occasionally screenshots, and for really taking in high resolution texture packs. Overall, this shader has the reputation it does for a reason and it has evolved to run quite well if you tweak the settings enough. The clouds are still not as beautiful as some other clouds, but they're at least better than Renewed so that's good. I do think that the shadows are, like Renewed, too dark but that's just personal preference. Getting really harsh, I think that the PBR reflections don't look great and the water still isn't entirely perfect but that's nitpicking honestly. If you're using a high resolution resource pack or something, it was probably designed for this and you might want to use it because it looks pretty great. Genuinely, with a bit of setting tweaking, this shader runs surprisingly well for how good it looks. For this shader, I feel like it took SEUS Renewed, added like a trillion features, made it be a path tracing shader, and then somehow made it run good like what. In terms of SEUS PTGI or PTGI HRR however, it's a completely different story. For performance, it's fine, nothing crazy, but it works. I feel like this shader could have been better but it didn't quite cut it for me and I feel like it deserves to have more customization settings than it does especially in color grading. I feel like this shader would be good for modern builds but not necessarily general use for people who aren't fans of the water, clouds, and atmosphere it builds. A nice thing though is that it does have PBR support which is cool even if it's a bit bruh. The shadows are also way too dark and intense for my liking. That being said, I'm a huge fan of clouds ever since being blessed with what RRe36 has to offer and these clouds are somehow even worse than Complementary's clouds so like wow. I do however quite like how the lighting and shadows look. The water would be pretty good for very shallow lakes and water features in builds but it does that thing that I hate where it gets super dark the lower down the water is and it also has a blur effect which I'm not a huge fan of which overall just make it a bit mediocre despite the good appearance in small bodies of water. Regular SEUS Renewed is a shader that I really don't have much experience with but it seems fairly solid. Secondly, when people say "SEUS" I feel like they're probably referring to SEUS PTGI but if they're just referring to regular SEUS Renewed then that's also a fair option.

I don't use it however because it just feels too plain for me, the water is awful, and the clouds are lackluster compared to some other offerings. I feel like the best way to describe Complementary would just be vanilla but spicier and with a boatload of settings, it's probably the most popular shader nowadays and is really easy to get into due to its straightforward customization and really solid performance as well as the cherry on top being the beautiful PBR. First, BSL is a fine suggestion but I feel like Complementary is more accessible, has more features, and can be tweaked to look like BSL and because it's based off BSL, it's essentially just a better version of BSL imo.
